Peace & Love, Ohtori

A juxtaposition of Information Society lyrics and the slapping of Utena, and Anshi, and Miki and Anshi, and …

My first Utena video, inspired by discussions that there should be a slap counter for this anime. Well, how about a slap video instead, ne?

I love the sound of movement in Information Society songs, but damn they have some long bridges. Then again, what better place to use a transformation sequence. 🙂

Fragile Fireflies

The emotional Grave of Fireflies anime movie to Sting’s haunting song “Fragile”.

It took me 2 years to want to see this anime again after seeing it for the first time, it affected me so much. When I did watch it again, it was to create this video.

My intention was to make a music video that people, whether or not they had seen this anime, would not mind watching more than once. Please let me know if I succeeded.

I did manipulate the video to be consistently black and white. The anime movie has some duotone scenes, but the majority of the Ghibli film is in color.

Miaka’s Secret

Fushigi Yuugi was one of the first anime I ever watched as a fansub and this anime music video was created from that footage, which is why you have the faux letterboxing and Hotohori’s one line show up near the end. Due South is a long-time favorite TV show, with the “Victoria’s Secret” song being one of my top instrumental favorites of all time. So it’s kind of obvious why this became my first anime music video. 🙂

This AMV is going online for the first time in September 2012 since its creation sometime in spring 1999 and was shown once at the Project A-Kon anime convention.
