Canadian McKay, Please

Canadian, Please

Canadian, Please

A Canadian Browncoat friend of mine sent me a link to gunnarolla’s “Canadian, Please” song last year. This month I finally got around to making this Stargate Atlantis fan music video for it. It’s a submission to the Creation Stargate convention> in Chicago, so this post will remain password-protected until the end of August.

Featuring David Hewlett as Rodney McKay, there’s actually a bit of footage from every instance of Stargate, from the movie, to SG-1, lots of SGA, and a shot of Destiny from Stargate Universe.

While only 2:30 long, it took me the longest amount of time I’ve ever spent editing due to the huge volume of footage I had to choose from. Since the song was so short, every shot had to be “perfect” – which meant I edited some places several times before being happy with it. And a lot of these Stargate Atlantis episode I’d hadn’t seen since I first watched them several years ago, so I would stop editing and just end up watching. Not a great hardship, really, just time-consuming. 🙂

Special thanks to macgyvergal> for her vast knowledge of the Stargate franchise, without whom, I may not have met the contest deadline.

Award: Creation’s Stargate Chicago convention in August 2010.

Woolsey of la Mancha

Man of la Mancha

Man of la Mancha

I bought Robert Picardo’s two CDs when I saw him at the Creation Vancouver SG-1/ SGA convention and both surprised and pleased to hear “Man of la Mancha” on the Extreme Bob CD (listed as Opera2). That has been one of my favorite musicals since seeing it featured in a Quantum Leap ep.

Woolsey does come into his own in SGA season 5, and I love how they gave him such fine moments in the ep “Inquisition”. It seemed like the perfect pairing to me.

Award: Creation’s LA Stargate SG-1 / Stargate Atlantis convention in November 2009.

You Won’t See Him Coming

You Won't See Me Coming

You Won't See Me Coming

Everyone has seen music videos of the primary cast of Stargate Atlantis. Here is my offering for Michael, using J J Burnel’s song I heard as an opening in an anime.

The reason I wanted to make this SGA music video is because I had the pleasure of meeting Connor Trinneer> at the Creation> Vancouver Stargate SG-1/Stargate Atlantis convention in March 2009. This was the first Creation con I had attended, and I discovered that music videos were used to introduce each guest. When I found out Connor was going to be a guest at the Stargate con in Chicago, I created this music video for him.

I had 2 songs in mind, but liked the strength in this song, which is the ending song of the anime Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo>.

Award: Creation’s Chicago Stargate SG-1 / Stargate Atlantis convention in September 2009.

Ronon Whip Ass

Whip Ass

I'm About to Whip Somebody's Ass

John Sheppard is my fav Stargate Atlantis character, and I briefly thought about using this song for him. Then I saw the SGA season 3 episode “Sateda” and knew this was meant for Ronon.

This music video was shown right before David Nykl went on stage at the Creation> Vancouver Stargate SG-1/Stargate Atlantis convention in March 2009. I was talking with him back stage when I suddenly realized my mv was playing. Seeing on the huge projection screen, backwards, was an interesting experience.

Thanks to Matt for sharing the Ray remixes with me several years ago.
